Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Current State License as a Registered Nurse required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification Must-Have: Fetal monitoring certification Description: Nights from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. LDRP setup requiring care of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients, stable newborns, and stabilization for transport of sick neonates. Must have RN who can take all phases of care from triage, antepartum, labor, postpartum, and neonatal care. Must be comfortable stabilizing newborns. Graduate of School of Nursing required. BSN/BA preferred. One year of labor experience required or completion of an extended orientation period. A nurse with no labor experience may be hired based on current preceptor/orientation availability. BLS upon hire and ongoing. NRP certification within 6 months of hire and ongoing. STABLE preferred. Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification within 6 months of hire and ongoing. Annual assessment of EFM principles within 3 months of hire and ongoing. Baby-Friendly Lactation Education required or within 6 months of hire. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct/comfort patients and families. Ability to maintain effective communication with healthcare team members. Analytical skills necessary to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans. Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Intranet. Ability to learn computer software programs applicable to patient care and operations. Must be able to understand, read, and write English clearly. The RN renders collaborative nursing care to a caseload of patients during the assigned shift. Care is in accordance with the medical staff practitioner’s treatment plan and nursing standards of care. The RN is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient through the nursing process. Demonstrates ability to delegate appropriately and direct staff in care coordination and delivery. Assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution. Sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and fellow employees. Reports directly to the Perinatal Nurse Manager. Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team in the coordination of patient care. Delegates and directs assigned caseload team, which may include other nursing staff. This position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Interprets the appropriate life span needs of patients. Provides appropriate population-based care according to department skills checklist for identified populations. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over patients' life spans. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' life span needs.
