Child Welfare Specialist

The Tribal Family & Child Advocacy program within the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Advocacy and Guardianship Department provides a comprehensive variety of Indian Child Welfare services. The Child Welfare Case Manager is responsible for providing immediate crisis intervention and stabilization for Tribal families with a child or children at imminent risk of danger. This position provides in-home and out-of-home services to abused and/or neglected STOF children and their families in order to help them stay together. This is an opportunity for an experienced child welfare professional to make a meaningful impact while working directly with children and families experiencing complex and high-risk situations. This is a 100% onsite position with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The position also requires participation in an on-call rotation and the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Fuel stipends are available for eligible employees who live 40 miles or more from the reservation, helping offset commuting costs. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include: Provide crisis intervention and stabilization for families with a child or children at imminent risk of harm. Provide in-home and out-of-home services to abused and/or neglected STOF children and their families. Provide case management and family safety planning. Provide parenting skills training and child development education. Assess the safety of children. Provide counseling for issues such as domestic violence, drug abuse, mental illness, underdeveloped coping skills, relationship problems, and poor communication skills. Conduct thorough assessments of all abuse/neglect cases involving Tribal Community families. Develop and implement successful intervention techniques. Interact with child protection agencies and/or investigators regarding abuse/neglect cases. Coordinate services for families in crisis. What We’re Looking For This position requires strong skills in child welfare case management, family safety planning, and responding rapidly in high-risk situations. Ideal candidates will bring experience working in: Child protective investigations Child welfare or related frontline services Child safety assessments Home visits Collaboration with protective investigators Coordination of services for families in crisis Applicants with proven experience evaluating child endangerment, developing intervention strategies, and managing complex caseloads will be best prepared for the demands of this position. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Case Management, or a related field is required. Master’s degree in a Human Services-related field is highly preferred. Child welfare certification is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the Child Welfare field as a social worker or case worker with family systems and/or community-based treatments is required. Florida State License as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is preferred. Knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare Act and its applications is preferred. Additional Requirements Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
