Community Paramedic Program Supervisor

Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a Community Paramedic Program Supervisor to join our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team. At Brunswick County, our EMS Department is committed to providing highly responsive, effective, and efficient emergency and non-emergency care to citizens and visitors across Brunswick County and surrounding areas. The Community Paramedic Program Supervisor will perform advanced administrative, supervisory, and clinical work directing the Community Paramedicine/Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Program. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and continuously improving services designed to reduce unnecessary emergency department utilization, decrease hospital readmissions, improve chronic disease management, address behavioral health needs, and connect residents with appropriate healthcare and community resources. Work includes:

• Program administration
• Personnel management and clinical oversight
• Patient care coordination
• Developing community partnerships
• Data management (including program documentation and electronic medical records)

The Program Supervisor serves as the primary liaison for the Community Paramedicine/MIH Program between EMS, hospitals, physicians, social service agencies, behavioral health providers, public health, home health agencies, long-term care facilities, and community partners. This position reports to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director. This position is considered ESSENTIAL under County policy and will be required to work to maintain essential operations during inclement weather, non-emergency closure, and/or closure due to a state of emergency/county disaster.

Education and Experience

Associate's degree and five (5) years of experience in emergency medical service, including experience providing outreach to participants in programs that provide safety and prevention awareness or providing information on accessing public services; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Other required qualifications include:

• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver's license.
• Current, valid Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic certification issued by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Board.
• Successful completion of a community paramedic training program.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Certification as a Community Paramedic by the International Board of Specialty Certification.
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic Certification.
• Supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including suction units, immobilization equipment, intravenous infusions, syringes and medications, and cardiac monitors/defibrillators/pacers, two-way radios, etc. Must be able to exert up to 225 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are those for Very Heavy Work.
