Compensation: $135,000-$160,000 annually

Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a privately held organization in Merced County. This position is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, accounting controls, audits and oversight of the accounting team.

The Controller will work closely with operational leadership and the Board of Directors to provide accurate financial information, analyze business performance and support sound financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the accounting team and day-to-day accounting functions
• Manage the monthly and year-end close processes
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reporting
• Develop annual budgets, forecasts and financial projections
• Prepare financial analysis and reporting for the Board of Directors
• Monitor company profitability, operating performance and budget variances
• Manage weekly cash flow and short- and long-term cash requirements
• Oversee banking relationships, borrowing base requirements and lender reporting
• Review accounts payable, accounts receivable and material invoices for accuracy
• Maintain appropriate controls over fixed assets, inventory and other company assets
• Ensure accounting practices and financial controls comply with GAAP
• Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits
• Prepare year-end financial information for the company's external CPA firm
• Manage financial reporting and documentation required by banks and other outside parties
• Assist with company insurance programs and related financial administration
• Oversee financial administration related to employee benefit programs, including 401(k) reporting
• Respond to financial and accounting information requests from regulatory and tax agencies
• Partner with operations and leadership to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required
• CMA, MBA or other advanced credential preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles
• Previous experience managing accounting operations and financial reporting
• Experience supervising or leading accounting staff
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
• Ability to analyze financial data and clearly communicate findings to executive leadership and a Board of Directors
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• High level of discretion when handling confidential financial information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
