Job Title 2026-2027 Boy's Water Polo - Junior Varsity Head Coach Location San Dieguito Union High School District – Canyon Crest Academy San Diego, California Starting Date July 31, 2026 Job Type & Compensation Seasonal – $3,509 stipend, payable in three coaching seasons: Fall (December), Winter (March), and Spring (June) Job Description Coaches the Junior Varsity Boys Water Polo program, overseeing athletes’ athletic and academic development, scheduling practices and competitions, and ensuring compliance with district and state regulations. All responsibilities are performed with a strong emphasis on academic performance and adherence to the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation Coaches Code of Conduct. Responsibilities Prioritize academic performance and monitor student-athletes’ grades. Develop and communicate team rules, expectations, and schedules to players and parents. Provide timely practice, tournament, and game schedules. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates, TB clearance, and any required certifications. Encourage athletes to perform at their best and apply all school‑team rules fairly. Communicate with individual athletes regarding their role on the team. Return parent phone calls, emails, and communicate injury or absence information promptly. Explain vacation and absence policies; allow time for make‑up tests when competition conflicts with school work. Ensure the use of district facilities is approved by the Athletic Director when out of season. Maintain CIF Home and MaxPrep results and statistics. Input schedules into Arbiter and adhere to CIF deadline periods. Create a positive, inclusive team environment and act professionally at all times. Require that off‑campus walk‑on coaches return keys to receive payment. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental and advanced water polo skills and techniques. Successful ability to teach, enforce, advocate for, and model appropriate behavior, character traits, and educational values. Experience coaching or working with youth athletes, preferably in water polo. Familiarity with NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, Conference, and team rules. High school or trade school degree preferred. U.S. citizenship, lawful residency, or eligible work visa required.
