Technical Project Monitor - Office of Geothermal

Boston Government Services, LLC. (BGS) is seeking a Technical Project Monitor – Office of Geothermal to support projects within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Geothermal. The Technical Project Monitor will provide scientific, engineering, and technical support to geothermal research and development projects, assisting with award monitoring, stakeholder coordination, and program reporting. Position Responsibilities Project monitoring of geothermal RD&D awards from inception to close‑out in collaboration with OG federal staff. Negotiating new award packages. Tracking award research progress—scope, schedule, and budget—through quarterly report review. Reviewing and providing input to interim project deliverables and final technical reports. Coordinating, communicating, and preparing meetings with internal and external stakeholders to support OG‑funded projects. Processing and tracking award modifications using a variety of government systems. Conducting merit reviews of submitted research proposals/funding applications. Supporting the development, coordination, and management of competitive solicitations and merit reviews. Engaging with OG stakeholders to ensure needs and gaps are being addressed at the federal level. Assisting in the development of internal briefing materials for decision makers and contributing to technical reviews of external communications. Representing the program status to senior government officials, congressional stakeholders, academia, and industry partners. Coordinating efforts with government agency partners external to OG. Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., Petroleum Engineering, Geophysical Engineering). 5+ years of experience. Experience in client/stakeholder relations. Professional attitude and strong communication skills—both verbal and written. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, Teams). Excellent analytical and independent problem‑solving skills. Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly. Ability to balance multiple long‑ and short‑term projects with competing priorities. Familiarity with geothermal technologies. U.S. citizenship. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge. Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Expertise in reservoir systems, drilling/well construction, well completion design, reservoir characterization, production/injection operations, and/or geothermal reservoir systems. Project management and coordination experience or PMP certification. Experience tracking and monitoring government‑funded research and development projects. Experience working within DOE. Self‑starter capable of working independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team. Location & Work Arrangement Position can be located in Golden, CO or Washington, DC and is a hybrid work arrangement. Employees are expected to report to the office a minimum of two days per week. Schedule is full‑time, Monday–Friday, 40‑hour week. Compensation & Benefits Starting compensation typical salary ranges between $75,000 and $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and may vary based on candidate geographical location.
