Make a strong impact supporting students in a contract role as a School Social Worker in a welcoming environment near Portland, MI. This position centers on serving approximately 40 students across two elementary schools and a preschool classroom, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week from late August 2026 through mid-May 2027. Your expertise will help nurture academic, social, and emotional development for young learners.

Desired Qualifications:

• Approved by the Michigan Department of Education as a School Social Worker
• Demonstrated experience in school-based social work settings
• In-depth knowledge of children’s social, emotional, and behavioral development
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and other staff
• Compassion, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver social work services that promote students’ academic achievement and emotional well-being
• Facilitate interventions addressing truancy, peer conflict, and personal challenges
• Consult with teachers, support staff, and caregivers to build holistic support plans
• Lead or participate in individual and group counseling sessions
• Document interventions and maintain detailed records in accordance with district and legal standards
• Advocate for students’ needs and act as a bridge to community resources when necessary
