JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing accounting operations which include daily transactions, general ledger and accounts payable & fixed assets process, and others support duties within the Finance and Accounting department.  Assists Controller in managing his department along with other areas of responsibility. Duties include day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, certification, process improvements, the accuracy of financial records and effective oversight of the accounts payable function. This position is Temp to Hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complies with all policies and procedures, federal and state laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to the job.
• Provides support in managing the day-to-day general ledger activities. Duties include performing and overseeing regular GL account reviews, intercompany and variance analysis.
• Ensures timeliness and accuracy of month-end close process, trend analysis and activities. This includes journal entry review/preparation and proper posting, reviewing, and analyzing general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting of the financial activity of the Company.
• Reviews and performs daily and monthly general ledger account reconciliations and others.
• Oversees the daily operations of accounts payable function to ensure it meets all financial deadlines and provides excellent support to vendors and employees. 
• Assists with management of accounting processes which includes but not limited to general accounting functions, and specific accounting for loans, investments securities, fixed assets, other investments, leases, prepaid and accrual, deposit, borrowings and equity as assigned.
• Assists with management of timely preparation of monthly and consolidated financial statements and other internal reports.
• Assists in the ongoing monitoring and interpretation of new GAAP, regulatory pronouncements, and compliance with the Bank’s financial controls.
• Maintains ongoing collaboration with other departments to obtain and review schedules for the preparation of required filings, and to ensure transactions are captured appropriately in the financial statements.
• Performs and reviews various banking regulatory report schedules, including the Call report and FR-Y reports, earnings release schedules and other schedules on a quarterly basis.
• Assists with the collection of audit related materials as required by external and internal auditors, and regulatory exams.
• Identifies process improvement opportunities and assists with developing and maintaining procedures and documentation to enhance operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Cross-train on other positions in the Financial and Accounting department.
• Provides support on various special projects.
• Strictly follows the rules and regulations of Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act.
• Keeps customer information confidential at all times.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in area of specialty or equivalent combination of education and experience in finance, economics, business administration, or accounting preferred. 
• 5+ years’ experience in a progressive advancement in accounting roles. Banking/financial services industry preferred. 
• Strategic thinking.
• Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, problem solve, set and achieve priorities and goals.
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and other financial modeling.
• High degree of interpersonal skills to work with bank employees as well as regulators and auditors.
