Maintenance Mechanic

Overview Maintenance Mechanic is a role at Graphic Packaging International responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting production machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Maintain machines in the best running condition; troubleshoot machine problems; respond to maintenance calls promptly; solve machine-related problems with the least amount of downtime. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and basic fabrication (such as lathe, mill, MIG/TIG welding); comprehend PLC ladder logic; safely use a variety of hand tools, pressing equipment, lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, sanders, and lift equipment. Perform shutdown procedures; check the power, water, and vacuum pressure of machines; maintain required written reports and documentation. Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on production support equipment such as compressors, chillers, dryers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and pumps. Other duties as assigned. All employees must follow Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles. Tools and Equipment Work devices/tools consist of basic hand tools, diagnostic equipment (calipers, gauges, meters, etc.), maintenance-required devices (calipers, dial indicators), percussion reading tools, scissor/boom lifts, ladders, parts washers, cherry picker, electrical troubleshooting equipment, and fabrication equipment (welder, grinders, lathe, mill, band saw, drill press). Experience / Skills Required 3 or more years of recent mechanical and electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair experience; manufacturing environment preferred. Excellent mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication). Excellent electrical/electronic skills (PLC, AC/DC motors and drives, schematics). Knowledge of industrial safety requirements, especially IES/ZES. Basic computer knowledge and skills. Overtime may be required, including weekends. Company operates on a 24/7 basis. Safe Quality Food (SQF) Responsibilities Follow all plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures related to production of Safe Quality Foods. Report unsafe conditions to authority to record any potentially unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF procedures. Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required. Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF). Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
