Associate Portfolio Manager Alternatives Equity TraderRemote Hybrid On/Offsite as required.Asset Management JO-2205-1413We are seeking a Boston-based Associate Portfolio Manager to join our Equity Alternative Strategies team. This senior position will improve our ability to manage the existing strategies and contribute to our ongoing efforts to identify new strategy opportunities. The APM will contribute to hands-on research on the drivers of performance, risk, and positioning of the Equity Alts lineup, as well as help coordinate the research efforts between the Equity Alts team is a dedicated research group. Additionally, this APM will play an active role in the identification and sourcing of new data sets to be used in the design of new investable strategies. We expect the Portfolio Manager to be actively involved in the external representation of the firm's Equity Alts strategies to existing clients, prospects, and consultants. This role will report to the Director of Equity Alternative Strategies.What You'll Do:Develop a solid understanding of the drivers of portfolio performance and positioning across the entire range of Equity Alternative strategiesGain in-depth knowledge of all models and aspects of portfolio construction in the furtherance of ongoing idea generation and process improvementsLeverage the firm's research resources (Equity Alts, Global Equity Research, Portfolio Construction, Trading, etc.), to design, manage, and execute complex research projects while also being able to work independentlyContribute to the development of the Equity Alts attribution framework and make recommendations for enhancementsArticulate research results to Equity Alts team members, research and investment teams, and senior managementExplain our research, investment process, and results to clients, prospects, and consultantsSupport the marketing and client service efforts by providing timely investment information to the relevant external-facing teams as necessaryProvide regular investment commentary for any of the Equity Alts strategiesWork in close collaboration with other internal teams (Hedge Fund Operations, IT, Client Reporting, etc.) in an effort to improve the operational aspects of the Equity Alts businessWe're Looking for Teammates With:A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science or a related field; Master's degree and/or CFA is strongly preferred10+ years of prior work experience, preferably in quantitative investing, research, and portfolio managementStrong programming skills (Python preferred) and experience working with visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BIDemonstrated knowledge of statistics/econometrics and experience working with large data sets (3rd party and proprietary)World-class analytical skills and the ability to clearly articulate the approach, process, and results in verbal, graphical and written formWillingness and ability to work in a collegial, results-oriented environment – must be a strong team playerInterest in following financial markets and a strong quantitative orientation for investingDrive to deliver on high value projects and a roll up your sleeves attitudeTravel will be required up to 20-30% of the time
