Assistant Director of Care and Support Services – Xavier University Overview Xavier University seeks a dedicated and mission‑driven Assistant Director to join our Care and Support Services (CSS) team. The role requires a collaborative, student‑focused approach and a passion for making a meaningful impact on student success. Responsibilities Proactively conduct comprehensive case management for students identified through campus alerts and data analytics, addressing concerns such as academics, behavior, health, finances, food insecurity, and other complex situations. Maintain and evaluate student case loads in appropriate databases, documenting all facts related to referred students. Support At‑Promise students in intervention programs (e.g., First Steps, Smooth Transitions, Arrupe Leaders) and provide weekly office hours in the Thrive Center. Coordinate outreach and regular communication with students on caseload; collaborate with on‑ and off‑campus partners to formulate intervention plans and expedite resolution of problems. Facilitate and consult on meetings with students, faculty, staff, and family members or guardians regarding behavior, support plans, university procedures, and follow‑up. Assist with well‑check processes as needed and stay current on research related to student support, especially for those at risk of leaving the university. Advocate for students, motivating and empowering them to make informed decisions that support personal and academic success. Qualifications Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Education, Administration, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities. Firm working knowledge of relevant concepts, practices, and procedures, with the ability to apply them in varied situations. Ability to develop detailed project schedules, including tasks, accountabilities, and deadlines. Strong problem‑identification skills and effective communication of changes and progress. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and aptitude for learning new software and systems.
