• Weekend coverage -- Friday 4 - 7 pm through Monday 7 am
• Inpatient service coverage need
• Patient census typically 5 - 10 pediatric cardiac patients
• Step down unit -- shared 20-bed unit
• Morning and afternoon rounds with in-between availability
• 24hr inpatient call required
• Procedures very rare -- laid back call coverage
