Field Operations Manager

En Garde Deer Defense is a family-owned and operated company specializing in professional deer repellent spray services to help protect yards and gardens.

We are expanding into the Columbus market and are looking for a hands-on Field Operations Manager to build the market from the ground up, develop customer relationships, drive sales, and grow into leading the local operation.

About the role:

This is an Entrepreneurial hands-on role combining sales, customer service, field operations, and business management. In the first year, you’ll generate opportunities, conduct free trials, perform production sprays, manage supplies and equipment, and establish the foundation for the Columbus operation.

You’ll have support from our Cleveland office and direct support from the owner during launch. As the market grows, the role will evolve into recruiting and leading a field team, improving operations, and managing the Columbus branch.

Compensation:

· $50,000 starting base salary

· 7% commission during the first year

· Potential end-of-year bonus

· Potential springtime bonus tied to retaining new customers & spray technicians

What You’ll Do:

· Build the Columbus market through prospecting, networking, referrals, local marketing, and customer follow-up.

· Meet with prospective customers, explain the En Garde program, conduct free trials, and turn qualified leads into recurring customers.

· Perform scheduled deer-repellent applications and ensure work is completed accurately, and with excellent customer care.

· Prepare products and equipment, manage inventory and supplies, and keep the operation organized and ready for service.

· Manage daily routes, scheduling priorities, customer needs, and changing weather conditions.

· Track sales, customer activity, route productivity, inventory, and other key operating metrics, accountable to KRA & KPI’s.

· Maintain company vehicles, equipment, technology, and other property.

· Communicate regularly with the Cleveland office and work closely with the owner during the Columbus launch.

· Help establish efficient processes and operating standards as the market grows.

· As the business expands, recruit, train, and lead field technicians and take increasing ownership of the Columbus operation.

· You will follow the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS – Traction)

What we’re looking for:

· Experience in sales, customer service, field services, small-business operations, or a similar hands-on environment.

· Someone who takes initiative, solve problems independently, and is comfortable being accountable for results.

· Strong communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to balance sales, field work, and operational responsibilities in a changing environment.

· Comfortable working outdoors, driving regularly, and performing physically active field work.

· Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a company vehicle.

· Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Apple devices, and basic business software.

· Willingness to obtain the required Ohio applicator license within three months; training/support provided.

· Ability to pass require pre-employment screenings.

Preferred skills and experience:

· Experience in landscaping, lawn care, pest control, route-based services, or another green-industry business.

· Previous team leadership or small business experience.

· Bachelor’s degree
