Firefighter-EMT Opportunity The City of Pleasanton is looking for dedicated, service-driven Firefighter-EMTs to join the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and help protect the lives, property, and well-being of the communities we serve. This is a dynamic public safety role where no two shifts are the same—you'll respond to fires, emergency medical incidents, rescues, hazardous materials calls, public assistance requests, and other emergencies while working as part of a highly trained team. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) has a strong dedication to safety, dignity, and respect for all. The Department was formed through a Joint Powers Agreement and serves a combined residential population of approximately 172,000. There are 10 stations, 105 suppression personnel, 8 engine companies, 2 Tiller Trucks, and a mix of 3 to 4 person crews. First responder paramedics are staffed on all 10 companies. The Department provides specialty rescue and hazardous materials response units, a fully-equipped training facility, while maintaining a certified confined space and Rescue Systems One site. The Department has a full service fire prevention bureau, including three inspectors responsible for CUPA hazardous materials enforcement. The Department's diverse public education program demonstrates its approach and commitment to fire safety. Various disaster preparedness coordination and community training programs are also provided for both communities. Here is what awaits you as a Firefighter-EMT: Competitive Pay Base Salary Range: $108,908.80 - $139,018.88 annually Education Incentive: up to 2.5% (depending on degree: 2.5% for 60 units (24 in Fire Science) and AA, 2.5% for BA/BS/MA/MS). Effective July 1, 2028, the percentage for BA/BS/MA/MS 5% Bilingual Pay: $45 per pay period Longevity Pay: 1% of base pay. Effective July 1, 2027, longevity pay increases to 2% after 8 years of service and 2.5% after 12 years of service. Effective July 1, 2028, the 12-year longevity pay increases to 4% Hazmat Pay: 1.5-5% based on assignment and subject to training requirements Holiday Pay: 7.5% of base salary in lieu of all holidays Premium Benefits Health Coverage: Generous medical, dental, and vision plans with City contributions, four health plans to choose from Retirement: CalPERS Pension of 2.7% at 57 (PEPRA), 3% at 55 (Classic) Life Insurance and AD&D Coverage: $50,000 Long Term Disability Plan Deferred Compensation: City contribution of 0.5% to 457(b) Retiree Health Savings Account: A matching contribution of $150/month. Time Off & Leave Vacation: Starts at 12 hours per month (up to 432 hours), increases with tenure up to 24 hours per month after 16 years. Sick Leave: Accrues at 11.2 hours per month during probation. Upon successful completion of probation, employees receive a 470.4-hour lump sum credit, representing the balance of the first five years of sick leave. Monthly accruals resume after five years of service. An individual who can serve in multiple roles, including emergency response and community education In This Role, You Will Respond to fire, rescue, medical, hazardous materials, and other emergency incidents as an integral member of the company, carrying out assigned duties under the direction of company officers. Drive and operate apparatus and specialized equipment safely and effectively during emergency and non-emergency operations. Conduct daily inspections, testing, maintenance, and minor repairs on firefighting equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness. Participate in ongoing training, drills, and professional development to maintain and enhance firefighting, emergency medical, and rescue skills. Accurately complete medical reports, equipment inspections, maintenance records, and other required documentation. Participate in fire prevention activities, public education, and fire safety inspections as part of a company. Uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, customer service, and compliance with department policies and procedures while serving the communities of Livermore and Pleasanton.
