Veterinary Hospital Receptionist

Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer care to Petco full-service Vetco Total Care hospital clients. The Concierge represents the mission and values to all customers and is typically the first and last person a client encounters when entering the hospital. The Concierge is responsible for fostering cohesion and motivation within the practice. Essential Job Functions Answer the practice phone and route calls appropriately. Maintain the hospital appointment calendar, including scheduling appointments from callers or visitors and reviewing online bookings. Greet all visitors, clients, and patients by name; notify technical staff upon arrival. Monitor wait times and make accommodations as necessary. Participate in training new staff members and disseminate knowledge as required. Ensure the waiting area is consistently cleaned with appropriate disinfectants and well-stocked. Confirm all appointments with the client’s preferred communication method the prior day and make necessary adjustments. Provide backup support to technical staff for room loading or patient discharge when staff is otherwise occupied. Other Duties and Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned. Planning and Problem Solving The Concierge ensures hospital workflow is optimized, rescheduling appointments as needed, and communicating with clients regarding wait times due to emergencies. Impact This position impacts the organization by contributing to productive practice and ensuring clients have optimal first and last impressions of the facility. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no immediate supervisory duties. Education & Experience High school diploma required. At least one year of previous experience in veterinary practice or a customer-facing role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Compassionate and professional attitude during emotional and stressful situations. Exceptional telephone and computer skills. Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments. Preferred: previous experience using a Practice Management System. Competencies Completed by Total Rewards Department. Work Environment Job duties involve bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods. Direct contact with clients and pets. Salary Range $15.00 - $19.95 per hour.
