Pipefitter

Position Summary The Pipefitter will be responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and industrial processing systems. Responsibilities Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures. Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. Inspect worksite to determine presence of obstructions and to ensure holes will not cause structural weakness. Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. Cut pipe using bandsaws, pipe cutters, Oxy‑Acetylene Torch. Thread pipe using a threading machine. Assemble and install a variety of metal and non‑metal pipe and pipe fittings, including brass, copper, carbon steel and stainless steel. Join pipe by means of welded, threaded, soldered, brazed, and pressed methods. Use hand tools to secure pipe to structure with clamps, brackets and hangers. Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, including chillers, AHUs, RTUs, cooling towers, pumps and pneumatic controls. Test piping system for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges for indications of leaks. May be required to travel to different job sites on limited notice. Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent. Qualifications 5+ years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED certification (preferred). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on site. Set a personal example of safe behavior. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Use common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards. Maintain good relations with all members of the team and supervisor. Physical Demands Work up to a 10‑hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions. Maintain physical strength and stamina; repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals. Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions, including constant weather and site changes. Experience moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Wear personal protective equipment such as safety‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, and vest. Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas. Work at heights and abide by all safety and fall‑protection requirements; wear and utilize all required safety equipment at heights. Evaluate information based on measurable standards and accurately identify slight differences in shapes and shading from drawings. Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings and maintain good balance when working at heights. Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet. #J-18808-Ljbffr
