POSITION : Custodian LOCATION : High School - Second Shift DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT Bentley Community Schools is a thriving PreK-12 school district located in the City of Burton, Michigan. We serve approximately 700 students across four schools fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Bentley Community School District is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our faculty as a custodian. The school custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the school building and grounds. This role involves performing a variety of task, including cleaning, minor repairs, and general maintenance. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times
• Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy
• Sweep classrooms regularly and dust furniture
• Clean corridors after school daily, and during the day
• Maintain floors in a clean and attractive condition
• Scrub, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily
• Wash all windows inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary
• Keep the grounds free from rubbish
• Make minor building repairs
• Reports immediately to the Principal, any damage to school property
• Remain on school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and custodial attendance is required
• Responsible for closing the building, securing all doors and windows, and turning off lights where appropriate
• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste
• Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Physical fitness to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment
