Groundskeeper

Job Summary Performs general grounds maintenance tasks involved in the maintenance and care of the Chowan University campus. Performs general grounds maintenance tasks involved in the maintenance and care of the Chowan University campus. Essential Functions Operate light mechanized equipment and participate in a variety of groundskeeping tasks in support of campus grounds maintenance projects. Cut lawn using power mower; services and maintains equipment as required. Pick up trash and debris from campus grounds, buildings streets, walkways, and parking areas. Trim and edge walks and flowerbeds using clippers and edging tools. Prune shrubs and hedges to improve growth, transplant trees, flowers, and bulbs. Perform a variety of manual tasks required for grounds maintenance and landscaping projects; place mulch and remove litter and other debris. Assist in setting up equipment for special events. Assist craft workers as helpers when directed; assist in moving office furniture when instructed. Other duties as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Facilities and Grounds. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Excellent verbal and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks. May require walking or standing for long periods. Ability to work outside for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to operate machinery. Possess a valid drivers license with a positive driving record.
