PHYSICIAN - NEURO - HOSPITALIST

Neurohospitalist Opportunity

Seeking a BC/BE Neurohospitalist to join our inpatient neurology team. This position follows a 7-on/7-off schedule and is responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient neurologic care, including consultation services, attending acute stroke alerts, interpreting EEGs, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care. Candidates should have strong clinical expertise in acute neurological disorders and a commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

• 7-on/7-off inpatient schedule
• Provide inpatient neurology consult services
• Respond to and manage acute stroke alerts
• Interpret routine and continuous EEGs
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, emergency medicine physicians, and other specialists
• Document patient care in the electronic medical record and participate in quality improvement initiatives

Essential Job Functions:

• Refer patients to medical specialists, social services or other professionals as appropriate.
• Participate in continuing education activities to maintain or enhance knowledge skills.
• Direct, coordinate, or supervise the patient care activities of nursing or support services.
• Write patient discharge summaries and send them to primary care physicians.
• Conduct discharge planning and discharge patients.
• Communicate with patients' primary care physicians upon discharge to maintain continuity and quality of care.
• Prescribe medications or treatment regimens to hospital inpatients.
• Order or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography (x-rays).
• Attend inpatient consultations in areas of specialty.
• Diagnose, treat, or provide continuous care to hospital inpatients.
• Admit patients for hospital stays.
• Traveling between multiple hospitals locations as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Four (4) or seven (7) years of internship and residency training, pertaining to specialty.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

• Experience in Healthcare setting.

License, Certification & Clearances:

• Current medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
• Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA).
• Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, or board eligible.
• DEA License
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
• Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
