ASSISTANT RURAL CARRIER (ARC)

This position delivers packages and mail on Sundays and observed holidays and may also serve Saturday rural routes. Schedule & Compensation Scheduled Days: Saturday, Sunday and USPS holidays as needed. Hours: VARIES. Pay: $20.38 per hour, paid bi‑weekly. Requirements Valid state driver’s license. Safe driving record. Minimum two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S., its territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide. Personal vehicle suitable for use may be required; vehicle maintenance allowance provided if own vehicle used. Physical ability to load and unload trays and containers of mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Background, medical suitability, and eligibility checks required. Functional Purpose Using dynamic route descriptions, deliver packages on Sundays and observed holidays. May also deliver, collect mail and packages on Saturday rural routes using a vehicle. Responsibilities Loads packages in delivery sequence into vehicle. Delivers packages and mail to customers along prescribed route. Sorts mail in delivery sequence for assigned route. Receives and signs for accountable mail. Collects money and receipt for accountable mail and picks up mail from roadside boxes. Furnishes routine information to customers regarding postal matters. Returns undeliverable mail and submits monies and receipts to post office. Prepares time records. Ensures mail security at all times.
