St. Francis Yacht Club is one of the premier yacht clubs in the world, home to 3,200 esteemed and diverse members, all of whom share a passion for yachting. Located on the shore of the San Francisco Bay, the City Clubhouse features three unique dining spaces, numerous elegant event spaces and athletic facilities for junior sailors and adults alike. The Club's regatta schedule is one of the most competitive in the world, playing host to 140+ days of racing, including several Grade 1 International regattas.

This is NOT a summer job.

Position: Part time Server a la carte (2-3 days/week) - Must be available on weekends.

Pay: $24.01/ hour. Non-tipping Club

Department: Food and Beverage

Reports to: Food and Beverage Director

Type: Part time - 2-3 days/week - Must be available on weekends.

Schedule

Part-time position, averaging approximately 3 shifts per week. Evening and weekend availability preferred.

Position Summary

As a Fine Dining Server, you will provide polished, attentive service to members and their guests while upholding the traditions and standards of a premier private club. This role is ideal for hospitality professionals who take pride in anticipation, elegance, and personalized service.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver refined, attentive table service in a fine-dining environment

Set, maintain, and manage assigned stations to impeccable standards

Confidently guide members through menus, nightly features, and wine selections

Anticipate guest needs and ensure a seamless dining experience from start to finish

Accurately enter orders using POS systems and coordinate with support staff

Maintain strong product knowledge, including ingredients and preparation methods

Adhere to established service etiquette, timing, and presentation standards

Collaborate with captains, managers, and team members to ensure exceptional service

Safely lift up to 50 lbs as required to perform service duties

Job Summary

Sets tables and serves meals to members and guests according to established rules of etiquette and performs other duties to furnish satisfactory service.

Check to make sure tables in the station are set up properly and completely.

Set-up the side station and perform assigned side-duties.

Ability to successfully oversee an entire station as designated by the captain or dining room manager.

Ability to anticipate the needs and requests of members and guests.

Attends pre-meal meeting to receive instruction about menu and service from captain.

Knows all menu items including their ingredients, presentation, and methods of preparation, and does not serve items prepared incorrectly.

Delivers the special menu verbally, answers questions and makes suggestions regarding food, wine, and service.

Uses proper P.O.S. (Point of Sale) procedure: Enters order on P.O.S. using proper procedure-so back waiter or captain may serve meal without asking the guest 'Who gets what'.

Ability to operate all job-related equipment to include but not limited to POS, coffee machines, espresso machine, blender.

Ability to serve members or guests their meal in a timely manner; places tray on stand near table being served; places dishes, by course, in front of each person, serving ladies first from the left of the guest.

Checks back within two minutes and remains attentive to table to ensure guest satisfaction.

Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.

Offers members or guests dessert and coffee drinks.

Must be able to comfortable and consistently lift to 50 pounds as needed to perform the basic duties of a server.

Verifies accuracy of guest check while processing it through POS System.

Presents check and oversees member charges as applicable.

Advises supervisor of any complaints and compliments as soon as they occur.

Helps clear and set tables; carries trays of dirty dishes to dishwashing area.

Performs clean-up and closing duties as assigned.

When necessary, assist other servers attend to their tables.

Founded in 1927, St. Francis Yacht Club is steeped in over 90 years of yachting traditions. From the beginning, St. Francis Yacht Club's membership has included many of the Bay Area's most prominent citizens and greatest sailors. In addition to the city-based clubhouse, Tinsley Island is our private slice of paradise, located 60 miles up the Delta from St. Francis Yacht Club. This 40-acre oasis is accessed by a Club-owned launch or private boat and offers a year-round getaway for our members, featuring dockage and houseboats, on-island lodging and kitchen facilities, a swimming pool, small boat fleet for member use and a variety of other diversions in a rustic, relaxing setting.
