About the Position

Job Title: Staff RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid license to practice in the Client Certifications: CPR required, Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certificate preferred Description: The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. Accepts responsibility for directing co-workers and delegating appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Education: Associate degree in nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred. Previous Registered Nursing experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to facilitate resolutions to issues are required. Must be able to handle multiple priorities and make independent decisions. Provides quality care based on assessment needs and established plans of care. Educates the patient and family/significant others from admission through discharge. Maintains thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of the nursing process. Notifies the physician of pertinent observations and changes in the status of the patient. Administers medications and performs treatments accurately and safely. Implements physician orders as written and ensures availability of equipment and supplies for patient care. Physical Capacity Demand: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Position may require frequent patient handling activities. Job Considerations: Requires the ability to regulate emotions and exercise self-control in the workplace. Must manage urgent situations calmly while communicating empathetically with patients. Displays confidence in assertive interpersonal situations. Supervises and directs the work of others in a professional manner. May experience stress related to time management challenges and working with individuals in distress. Cognitive requirements: Position requires intact cognitive function in areas of attention, memory, perception, and thought. Ability to prioritize work tasks when multiple issues need attention. Strong observation and accurate reporting skills are essential. Requires exceptional organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
