Job Title: Entry Level Estimator

Job Description

This entry level Estimator role focuses on supporting the pricing, estimation, and preconstruction efforts for custom machine building and capital equipment projects. You will contribute to project management activities from initial concept through completion, helping to ensure accurate quotes, well-planned execution, and successful delivery of integration and machine build projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for capital equipment and machine build projects, using mechanical and engineering information provided by the project team.
• Support preconstruction activities by reviewing project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to develop accurate pricing and cost breakdowns.
• Assist in managing projects from cradle to grave, including planning, scheduling, tracking progress, and coordinating key milestones.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to gather technical and cost information needed for reliable estimates.
• Monitor project budgets and costs, helping to identify variances between estimated and actual expenses and recommending adjustments when necessary.
• Contribute to supervisory tasks related to project execution, such as coordinating work with internal teams and communicating expectations clearly.
• Participate in capital equipment project reviews to ensure alignment between estimates, project scope, and client requirements.
• Maintain organized documentation of estimates, quotations, and project records for future reference and continuous improvement.
• Support continuous improvement in estimation and pricing processes by providing feedback on tools, templates, and workflows.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders regarding estimate assumptions, risks, and opportunities.

Essential Skills

• Some form of project management experience within an integration or machine build environment.
• Experience managing capital equipment projects from cradle to grave.
• Hands-on experience with project management activities, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and tracking progress.
• Demonstrated ability to develop estimates and quotations for mechanical and capital equipment projects.
• Understanding of preconstruction and pricing processes in a machine building or industrial setting.
• Supervisory skills sufficient to coordinate tasks and communicate expectations across project teams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine build or integration projects.
• Associates Degree preferred, with openness to alternative educational backgrounds that provide relevant technical or project experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field preferred but not required.
• Experience working in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to cost estimation and project planning.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineering, shop, and office staff.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple projects, estimates, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Interest in growing within an estimating and project management career path in machine building.

Work Environment

The role is based in a fast-paced, clean machine building setting that includes time in both the shop and the office. You will work in a nonclimate-controlled facility where you are close to the equipment and teams executing the projects you help estimate. The environment supports collaboration between office staff and shop personnel, and attire should be appropriate for an industrial setting while maintaining a professional appearance in the office.

This is a Permanent position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Chattanooga,TN.
