Job Title PSYCHOLOGIST 2 CEH Department FACULTY PRACTICE PSYCHIATRY Location and Schedule Worksite: La Jolla Work Schedule: Days, 8‑hour shifts, Monday – Friday Appointment Details Appointment Type: Career Appointment Percent: 100% Union: HX Contract Total Openings: 1 Pay Scale Annual Salary: $110,497.00 – $161,778.20 per year (prorated if appointment Job Description The UCSD Department of Psychiatry offers a challenging academic outpatient clinic for child and teen populations. Under the supervision of the Child and Teen Outpatient Mental Health Program, the Psychologist will provide comprehensive psychosocial services, collaborate across multidisciplinary systems, and contribute to care, education, and research initiatives. Responsibilities Deliver individual and group psychotherapy to children and adolescents. Manage crisis situations and provide immediate intervention. Coordinate care, plan treatments, and conduct initial diagnostic evaluations. Triage patients to appropriate levels of care. Assist in expanding the clinic’s services, including implementation of measurement‑based care. Collaborate with pediatricians, schools, social services, and other clinicians. Prepare and lead psycho‑educational groups on topics such as psychosis, mood disorders, sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, dual disorders, anger management, and stress management. Maintain accurate, concise psychosocial notes and program reports. Adapt to a dynamic caseload with weekly intake fluctuations. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Current valid California Psychology License (Ph.D. or Psy.D.). Minimum two (2) years of experience with child and adolescent populations in practicum, internship, or clinical fellowship. Familiarity with ABA, DBT, FBT, and ERP modalities preferred. Proficient psycho‑diagnostic interviewing, evaluation, and treatment planning skills. Strong crisis intervention abilities; ethical and non‑discriminatory practice. Training in evidence‑based therapies such as CBT, DBT, ABA, HRT, ERP, PMT, PCIT, and FBT. Comfortable with multiple evidence‑based modalities; expert mastery not required. Knowledge of psychiatric chart interpretation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations and colleagues. Capable of critical thinking, problem solving, and creative assessment. Strong written communication for concise psychosocial notes and program reports. Working knowledge of DSM‑V and problem‑focused psycho‑therapeutic interventions. Experience managing a complex caseload with continuous intake. Special Conditions Flexible work hours and locations as business needs dictate. Subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Compensation Annual Full Pay Range: $122,837 – $161,778 (prorated if appointment Hourly Equivalent: $58.83 – $77.48. Required Certifications and Policies Compliance with the University of California Vaccination Program policy. Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) with hands‑on practice and in‑person assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
