Associate Buyer, Non Apparel

Mixology Clothing Company

About Us

Mixology is a women's fashion retailer with a portfolio of brick-and-mortar stores and a fast-growing e-commerce business at shopmixology.Com. We carry a curated mix of contemporary brands alongside our own labels, Gab & Kate and Zoe Belle. We move quickly, buy close to season, and win because our team has a curated POV and numerical discipline.

The Opportunity

You'll be the person who knows every accessory vendor worth knowing, who spots the $38 item that sells out in nine days, and who makes sure the register never rings an apparel sale without something next to it. It's a hands-on, high-volume, high-turn job with a clear path to full category ownership.

Buying & Assortment

  • Support the build of seasonal non-apparel assortments by category, price point, and door balancing everyday reorder basics against newness and trend.
  • Attend market and vendor appointments;
    take notes, build linesheets, track what you saw, and come back with a point of view.
  • Research and vet new vendors, especially small and emerging brands, and maintain a live pipeline of who we should be talking to.
  • Write and enter purchase orders accurately;
    own the entire order lifecycle from confirmation through receipt.
  • Manage the reorder cadence on core items so best sellers never go out of stock.
  • Partner on private label non-apparel development for Gab & Kate and Zoe Belle sample tracking, comments, costing support, and calendar management.
  • Build the non-apparel side of key gifting moments: Mother's Day, holiday, Valentine's Day, graduation, and the impulse and add-on assortment that supports them

Analysis & Inventory

  • Build and maintain weekly AI Driven selling reports by category, vendor, class, and store;
    flag what's working andwhat isn't before anyone has to ask.
  • Track sell-through, weeks of supply, and margin at the item level;
    recommend reorders, markdowns, and consolidations.
  • Support open-to-buy maintenance and keep receipt flow on plan.
  • Monitor store-level and e-commerce inventory;
    execute transfers and rebalances to get product where it's selling.
  • Own the seasonal exit plan for non-apparel.

Vendors & Operations:

  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for non-apparel vendors: order status, ship windows, backorders, damages, RTVs, chargebacks amongst other tasks.
  • Work with our warehouse and store teams on receiving issues and resolve them quickly.
  • Own the accuracy of product data in Shopify titles, product types, tags, pricing, collections, and variant setup since our site navigation and merchandising depend on it.
  • Partner with e-commerce and marketing on product copy, imagery needs, launch timing, and gift guides.
  • Partner with store leadership on how accessories are merchandised, cross-merchandised, and sold on the floor

Required

  • 3+ years in a buying, merchandising, planning, or inventory role in retail — specialty, boutique, or multi-brand preferred.
  • Genuine fluency in Excel and Google Sheets: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, building a report from raw data without hand-holding.
  • Comfort with retail math: margin, markup, sell-through, turn, weeks of supply, OTB and the instinct to question a number that looks wrong.
  • Strong organizational skills and real follow-through;
    this role touches hundreds of SKUs and dozens of vendors at once.
  • An eye for product, and the confidence to say what you think in a vendor appointment.
  • Availability to work on-site full-time (5 days) at our New York City office 4 days a week, as well as Lynbrook, Long Island office once a week.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Shopify (Plus), a retail ERP, or an inventory management platform.
  • Prior accessories, jewelry, gift, or home category experience.
  • Familiarity with private label or product development timelines.
  • Comfortable staying on the cutting edge of AI Tools.
  • Time spent on a sales floor you understand how the product actually sells.
