Busser Job Summary

The Busser is responsible for helping to ensure guests receive excellent guest service by delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables quickly and accurately, cleaning and resetting tables after guests leave the restaurant, ensuring the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates and glasses, supporting servers' table service as directed by the servers and MOD, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and server stations.

Essential duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shift, having strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner, exhibiting consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conduct, providing exemplary guest service on a consistent basis, completing any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organization, performing all assigned side-work quickly and efficiently, and properly setting up and breaking down stations before and after operating hours.

Expediter/Food Runner responsibilities include ensuring all plates are prepared and garnished correctly before delivering to tables, ensuring guests have everything they need on the table including proper silverware, napkins and share plates when delivering food, working with servers and BOH to quickly correct any guest concerns regarding food orders, quality, and presentation, keeping expo station clean, organized and well stocked, ensuring all utensils are polished and well stocked, assisting all servers, bartenders, and managers with carrying of plates, and communicating food orders to BOH employees, paying attention to priority tickets, allergies, and special requests.

Busser responsibilities include cleaning and resetting tables after guests leave the restaurant, removing dirty utensils and replenishing, as needed, ensuring the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates, and glassware, keeping service stations clean, assisting servers with food delivery and other table service duties as directed by the servers and MOD, taking out trash, bringing bus tubs back to the kitchen when they are full, and moving tables, chairs, and furniture to accommodate guests as needed.

Specific job knowledge, skill, and ability include knowledge of teamwork and Toast POS system, ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkers, proficient verbal communication skills, ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment, strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction, must have strong knowledge of food menus, must have the ability to carry multiple plates at one time sometimes using a large tray and tray jack, knowledge of proper food handling requirements, knowledge of bar and kitchen items, basic mathematical skills, knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venue, and must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.

Qualification standards include education of high school diploma or GED equivalent optional, experience of minimum of one year's experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar, age of at least 16 years old to meet minimum age requirement of the State of Tennessee to work evening hours, licenses or certificates of ServSafe Certification, ABC Server Permit, CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred, grooming of all employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Company's grooming standards, physical requirements/working environment of must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures, must be able to work and move quickly in a tight-space environment in a safe manner without disrupting other employees, and must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., and other of applicants with additional language skills preferred.

Compensation: $10.00 per hour plus tips.
