Job Summary

An established medical malpractice defense law firm in Winter Park, FL is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a litigation attorney who wants meaningful case responsibility, strong mentorship, and long-term growth in a professional legal environment.

The Associate Attorney will handle medical malpractice defense matters, contribute to case strategy, prepare high-quality written work product, and participate in depositions, hearings, and litigation proceedings. Key Responsibilities

- Handle medical malpractice defense litigation matters from case development through resolution.
- Conduct legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, memoranda, discovery responses, and other written work product.
- Take and defend depositions and attend hearings, conferences, and other litigation proceedings.
- Assist with case strategy, trial preparation, investigation, and evaluation of claims.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, court personnel, and internal team members.
- Manage multiple cases, deadlines, and assignments while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation: $120,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Bonus potential is available.
- Job type: Full-time, direct hire.
- Work arrangement: Primarily in-office in Winter Park, FL. A hybrid schedule may be available after the initial training period.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Handle medical malpractice defense litigation matters and assume responsibility for assigned cases.
- Prepare legal research, written work product, pleadings, discovery, and case strategy materials.
- Take and defend depositions and attend hearings and other litigation proceedings.
- Manage deadlines, client communications, and multiple active matters in a fast-paced litigation environment.

- Florida Bar admission is required.
- Approximately 2 to 10 years of litigation experience is required, with candidates in the 5 to 10 year range strongly aligned with the role.
- Medical malpractice defense litigation experience is highly relevant.
- Experience taking depositions and attending hearings is required.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and drafting skills are required.
- Writing sample is required for consideration.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail are required.
- Ability to manage significant responsibility independently while working collaboratively with attorneys and staff.
- Strong communication, professionalism, judgment, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Team-oriented approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to high-quality legal representation are required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience with medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, or professional liability defense.
- Experience managing a meaningful litigation caseload with increasing responsibility.
- Prior experience working in an AV-Rated or established civil litigation defense environment.
- Strong interest in long-term growth within a collaborative litigation practice.
