A confidential regional litigation practice is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Litigation Associate to support a busy defense-side docket representing employers and insurers. This is a litigation-forward role with day-to-day collaboration with lead attorneys and hands-on involvement across the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation matters.

THE ROLE

Manage and advance workers’ compensation litigation files on behalf of employers and insurers. Conduct legal research and draft persuasive written work product, including motions and related advocacy materials. Handle discovery tasks and case development, including preparing for and participating in depositions as needed. Prepare for and attend hearings before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, including support on appeal-related work. Partner with lead attorneys on strategy, case evaluation, and day-to-day litigation planning.

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location: California (opportunities available in Northern and Southern California). Schedule: Hybrid, with an in-office expectation of 3 days per week. Compensation: $125,000 to $175,000 base salary (USD).

REQUIREMENTS

Active California Bar admission in good standing. 3 to 10 years of litigation experience. Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Strong legal research and writing skills with careful attention to detail. Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage litigation tasks with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

Workers’ compensation experience is preferred but not required. Prior judicial clerkship or externship experience. Prior criminal defense attorney experience (helpful, not required).
