Bedford Public Schools Invites Applications For The Position Of Education Support Professional‑3 (ESP) (FY27) Description The role of the Education Support Professional‑3 (ESP) is to support students in the SAIL program, the STEP or Bridge programs, and the Integrated Preschool. These programs serve students on the Autism Spectrum, social and emotional disabilities, or related disabilities. The ESP is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Individual Education Program by providing direct support in program, classroom, or small‑group settings. The ESP delivers instruction using methodologies such as Applied Behavior Analysis, discrete‑trial task analysis, and naturalistic teaching. The candidate will be trained in de‑escalation strategies, data collection for academic and behavioral plans, and will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a certified Special Education Teacher. Responsibilities Support classroom routines and procedures; reinforce positive behavior, e.g., Responsive Classroom. Supervise and provide student support in all school environments, including recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, field trips, and crisis drills. Offer small‑group or individual instructional support aligned with student goals, benchmarks, IEPs, and behavior plans. Consult with teachers on daily class preparation, learning targets, and success criteria. Assist with academic programs— reteaching, reinforcing, reviewing, scribing, note‑taking, data collection— and behavioral programs. Provide regular feedback to teaching and counseling staff about student progress and challenges. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support prioritized students and the broader class. Implement behavior intervention plans and facilitate social skills across school settings. Provide crisis intervention as needed, including verbal de‑escalation and physical intervention within training protocols. Adapt to varying student needs and perform other job‑related tasks as directed by administrators. Monitor, maintain accurate data, and share progress with staff. Must Possess The Ability To Integrate into classroom settings under staff direction. Collect, record, and analyze data across multiple data points. Enter data into spreadsheets and create graphical displays of student progress. Acquire and apply new skills consistently to support student engagement. Maintain flexibility in daily priorities reflecting changing student needs. Work in multiple classrooms or environments during the school day. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Anticipate and address unforeseen events in large‑group settings. Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public. Additional Information Associates Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related area preferred. An ESP is considered an Instructional Aide as defined in General Laws, Chapter 71, Section 38.
