The Human Resources (HR) Specialist partners with the Bay Area Manager and Senior Manager to provide comprehensive HR support for the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Office’s and actively collaborates with the broader West Coast Human Resources team. The HR Specialist acts as the primary liaison for our our Associate Consulting Classes and our Summer Intern Program. This includes, partnering our Local Staffing team to manage employee lifecycle, and performance management. Successful implementation of various programs requires strong program management skills, thorough knowledge of policies and procedures, and effective communication with individual employees and Local, Regional and Global administrative teams. In addition to cohort responsibilities, the HR Specialist will continue to run administrative efforts acting as the Global Mobility liaison, and providing onsite support to local team. Please note: Bain’s offices are operating on a hybrid model. It will be expected during onboarding and training this individual will be in office four days a week. Once trained, determined by the supervisor, the expectation will for our Human Resources team to be in office a minimum of three days a week. This role is initially being hired as a temporary position, with the possibility of conversion into a permanent full-time position within the company.WHAT YOU’LL DO
Associate Consulting Cohort: Act as an HR Business Partner to Program Manager responsible for Associate Consultant general consulting cohorts Oversee all HR Programs and activities for cohorts. Includes onboarding, compensation, employee relations, leaves of absence, transfers, performance management, bonus payments, departure, exit interviews, et. Partner with Program Managers for cohorts to help coordinate ratings process and promotion committees for cohorts ensuring all policies followed. Attend all TAC (performance management) meetings for cohorts Manage performance management process for employees in cohort; ensure correct language is included in performance reviews, meet with employees to explain policies/options; ensure all reviews are triggered, submitted and delivered on time throughout the process Escalate all employee complaints to Senior Manager. Partner, when appropriate, with Senior Manager to provide HR advice on tricky situations and investigating routine employee relations complaints. Act as an ombudsman and “eyes and ears” of employees in cohort working closely with Program Management to identify trends and help build strategy to increase cohort retention and satisfaction Attend class meetings for cohort to understand cohort perspectives, answer questions, et. Use data sources (CTSU, WWES, Pulse Checks, et) to stay on top of how cohort morale is and provide thought leadership to Program Management on program overall Work with Regional HR Operations team to ensure accurate and timely administration of core HR systems and other activities that the HR Operations team supports as it pertains to cohorts Work closely with Global Compensation, Mobility & Immigration and Benefits teams to ensure accurate and timely activities where these groups intersect with cohorts Summer Intern Cohort: Work closely with Program Management and Recruiting to offer support on accommodations or tricky situations that arise over the summer Act as an ombudsman and “eyes and ears” of employees in cohort working closely with Program Management to identify trends and help build strategy to increase cohort retention and satisfaction Partner closely with Senior Manager, and local leadership on employee matters in cohort. Center of Excellent Program Support (Benefits, Payroll, Immigration, Mobility, etc.): Work with Global Mobility to determine transfer needs; Partner with the HR Operations center to initiate outgoing transfer agreement process; approve all transfer agreements Work with Immigration to ensure proper visa requirements for international transfers Liaise with Immigration team and employees when visa issues arise Partner with Benefits on all medical leave of absence (including, but not limited to, sick leave, short-term disability, and long term disability) requests Engage with Benefits and the regional Reasonable Accommodations Committee (RAC) for all medical accommodation requests to ensure equity and alignment Run compensation reports, manage top-up bonuses, and audits as necessary General Administrative Support: Play an active role in the regional AC/SAC HRBP group, partnering with colleagues across the regional on policy programming and thought partnership Attend all regional trainings and HR calls as appropriate for HR Specialists Maintains HRIS records with daily approvals in Workday and may enter employee information as requested, including leaves of absence, departures, vacation balances, and transfers Gather data and run reports as requested through Workday Administer and track client required background checks as needed Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned or as responsibilities dictateABOUT YOU
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience is required A minimum of 3-4 years professional experience is required Strong customer service, organization, interpersonal and communication skills Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously Meticulous attention to detail necessary Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required; previous HRIS systems experience a bonusU.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below). Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows: In California, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $73,000- $87,500. Placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level Annual discretionary performance bonus This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date Bain & Company’s comprehensive benefits and wellness program is designed to help employees achieve personal independence, protection and stability in the areas most important to you and your family.
