Prior local and state government years of service count toward calculating vacation accrual rate!CHA is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health Specialist to promote and protect public health within the county. This role plays a vital role in preventing disease and safeguarding community well-being through education, surveillance, consultation, and enforcement of state and local environmental health laws. The successful candidate will work closely with community partners and regulated facilities to evaluate environmental health conditions, conduct inspections and provide public education to ensure compliance with health regulations.Primary Responsibilities:Perform routine sanitation inspections for FLI and CCSS programsPermitting of facilitiesComplaint & Outbreak investigationsProvide food safety education to community and permitted facilitiesAssist with FDA Retail Program Standards work within FLI programAssist with public health emergencies/events as requiredInspect/permit TFE'sEducation/Experience:Graduation with a bachelor's or postgraduate degree from an academic program accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC)Graduation with a bachelor's or postgraduate degree that includes at-least 30 semester hours of 45 quarter hours in the physical, biological, natural, life, or health sciences and a minimum of one year of experience in environmental health practiceGraduation with a bachelor's or postgraduate degree in public health and a minimum of one year of experience in environmental health practiceLicense: Must maintain registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) by the North Carolina Board of Registered Environmental Health Examiners. REHS-interns must become REHS within two years of registration with the North Carolina Board of Registered Environmental Health Examiners.
