Heavy Machine Operator (Metal Cutting)

Location: Sumner, WA
Pay: $21.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 3:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Position Overview

Our client in Sumner is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Heavy Machine Operator to operate equipment that cuts large sheets of metal to precise specifications. This is an early morning shift ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role requires strong attention to detail, as the operator will also serve as a quality control point—inspecting metal sheets throughout the production process to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate metal cutting machinery to cut sheet metal accurately
• Read and interpret work orders and measurements
• Load and position metal sheets onto machines safely and efficiently utilizing a forklift
• Load vinyl and plastic vinyl coating materials onto the machine
• Monitor machine performance and make basic adjustments as needed
• Inspect finished products to ensure quality and accuracy standards are met
• Perform quality control checks by inspecting metal sheets as they move through the production process
• Unload front and tail pieces of scrap material from the machine
• Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment clean and operational
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy machinery or metal cutting equipment preferred
• Experience operating a forklift required
• Knowledge of banding products and processes preferred
• Ability to read measurements and use basic measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to work within a team and stay productive during early morning hours
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
• Ability to bend, twist, and work in a manufacturing environment
• Comfortable working around machinery and industrial noise
