Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Overview Registered Nurse (RN) - Staff/Med Surg I. Night 12-hour shift. As our Registered Nurse, you will manage individualized patient care by promoting and restoring health through the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide physical and psychological support to patients, families, and friends; and supervise assigned team members. Responsibilities Conduct an individualized patient assessment and prioritize data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs within policy timelines, in collaboration with other health care team members. Monitor patients' conditions and assess needs to provide optimal care and guidance. Perform appropriate treatments and administration of medications, promptly and accurately as ordered by the provider. Deliver therapeutic nursing interventions and care with appropriate age and cultural competence according to the patient’s plan of care and their family. Provide individualized patient and family education tailored to the patient and family needs. Document patient condition, assessment findings, and responses to nursing interventions and progress toward problem resolution. Initiate emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols. Maintain confidentiality and provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner respecting patient and family diversity, autonomy, dignity, and rights. Observe and interpret patient symptoms and communicate findings to providers and other staff during shift change. Education Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLNAC/CCNE-accredited program is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC/CCNE-accredited program is preferred. Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an NLNAC/CCNE-accredited program is preferred. Experience Qualifications Previous experience in an acute care setting is preferred. Skills and Abilities Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EMR) for patient-level care and coordination. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with others to improve quality and address patient needs. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse license - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (required). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association (required within 30 days). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification - American Heart Association (preferred). Physical Demands Medium physical demand.
