Key Responsibilities Evaluation and Implementation of Appropriate Care Under the direction of the Radiologist, anatomically position the patient and perform imaging procedures using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Use professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures for quality diagnostic outcomes. Review data and assess the patient’s condition to select the most appropriate care plan. Select appropriate shielding and immobilization devices. Evaluate lab values before administering contrast media. Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient preparation. Reconfirm patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verify the requested procedure; verify pregnancy status for female patients when appropriate. Recognize significant clinical information that may impact the examination. Monitor patient and equipment during procedures, accurately document exam times, reactions, or problems, and report concerns immediately to the supervisor. Apply extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and resources to achieve maximum diagnostic image quality. Quality of Care Provide evidence‑based care to prevent hospital‑acquired conditions and readmissions. Practice standard precautions during patient contact and when handling contaminated materials. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI Program (ARRT/ARMRIT). Experience: On‑the‑job training with outside didactic education (e.g., Galveston College) or prior MRI experience. Certification: BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Licensure: Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI Certification (MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). OR Current registration and licensure by ARRT and MRI certification required within 9 months of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to perform advanced MRI angiography, including bilateral run‑offs and required reformatting; understanding of magnetic resonance safety compliance. Preferences Education preferred from an institution approved by ARRT or ARMRIT. Preferred minimum one year of experience as an MRI technologist. Special Position Requirements Exposure Categories: Category I: expected duties involve routine potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Other potential hazards include exposure to chemical, biological, radioactive substances, and possible hostile individuals. Work Requirements Manage technical business equipment such as phone, fax, computer. Assist with the movement or manipulation of a patient and equipment weighing up to and over 300 lbs. Care for patients with infectious diseases. Sit, stand, walk, and bend for the duration of the scheduled shift.
