SUMMARY

Responsible for performing various assembly, machining and blending operations in accordance with WGPW established methods and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position includes but is not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities. Operation of Bridgeport Operation of Surface Grinder Disassembly, Rework and Assembly of aerospace components Cleaning parts by hand using brushes, scotch brite, wire wheels, varsol and other various cleaning solvents and abrasive blast methods. Removing broken bolts and hardware. Chasing threads and installing heli coils or threaded inserts as required. Modification work such as blending, deburring and polishing. Removing and replacing airseals, nut plates, helicoils and other miscellaneous hardware using associated equipment. Use and interpretation of appropriate technical data, including but not limited to travelers, blue prints and other technical data as provided. Performs tooling repair in support of the engine shop Maintains a safe and clean work area and adheres to all housekeeping requirements. Follows all safety procedures and rules and properly wears all safety protective equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school or equivalent plus Three years of related machine shop experience. Previous experience in the use of hand tools, air tools and riveting equipment and processes. Experience with precision measuring equipment. Experience in operation of milling and surface grinding machines Experience in the overhaul and repair of aviation components is a strong plus.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions or be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, solvents, and oils.
