Patient Access Clerk – Patient Access – Part Time Benefit Eligible Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital, stand‑alone, not‑for‑profit hospital located in Ste. What to expect as a Patient Access Clerk: Welcome patients and visitors to the department by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone, answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members when needed. Conduct patient interviews in a confidential manner. Verify demographic and financial/insurance information with patient or patient’s representative, updating when necessary. Verify insurance information, benefits, and eligibility for patients receiving care with our hospital. Coordinate with utilization review when necessary. Ensure authorization numbers are obtained for scheduled out‑patient services such as MRIs, CTs, Nuclear Medicine, Stress‑Tests, etc. Escort in‑patients to his or her room. Direct out‑patients to the correct department(s), escorting them when necessary. Work with surgical scheduling to pre‑register patients for ODS procedures. Reconcile information systems data by editing registrations performed by support ancillary service registrars. Create new providers in the Clinical Dictionary when presented with an order from a provider that has never used our facility for out‑patient services; complete with Provider Type, Name, Address, Phone, Fax Numbers, and NPI Number. Perform semi‑annual OIG Reviews on all providers to check for infractions. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications: High school student or equivalent.
