Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support the truck fleet at Ryder in Roseville, Michigan. Compensation & Schedule Hourly Pay: $33.73 per hour Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year) Sign-On Bonus: $1,500 Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday Tuesday – Thursday: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm Friday: 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm Saturday: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties. Perform standard vehicle maintenance. Perform standard component inspections and repairs. Perform preventive maintenance. Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable. Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required. Replace defective components as instructed. Perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task. Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available. Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT). Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include Service Island support. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred). Basic tools required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (e.g., oil changes, brake and tire work). Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience (preferred). Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred). Required Driver Qualifications Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder drug test. Pass a DOT physical. Pass a Ryder road test. Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years. Benefits Annual merit pay increases every year.
