Job Description

This role focuses on MIG welding steel components for conveyor systems while ensuring high-quality fabrication that meets engineering specifications and safety standards. You will use your welding and fabrication expertise to interpret blueprints, prepare materials, and complete precise welds that support reliable, industrial-grade equipment.

Shift: 4:00pm-2:30am

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on steel components used in conveyor systems, ensuring all welds meet engineering and quality specifications.

• Read and interpret engineering blueprints to understand weld locations, sizes, and technical requirements before starting work.

• Measure and lay out weld locations and sizes accurately to align with design drawings and project specifications.

• Execute welds using the appropriate welding equipment, filler metals, and techniques as specified on drawings and work instructions.

• Review all drawings and documentation prior to welding to confirm dimensions, tolerances, materials, and welding procedures.

• Set up, operate, and properly use metal working machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, saws, brakes, and shears, to prepare and fabricate components.

• Inspect completed welds and fabricated parts to verify quality, structural integrity, and adherence to engineering requirements.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following established safety practices and proper equipment handling procedures.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve fabrication or design issues and ensure timely completion of projects.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience with MIG welding on steel components in a fabrication or industrial environment.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints accurately.

• Demonstrated skill in measuring and laying out weld locations and sizes according to drawings.

• Experience executing welds using the correct equipment and filler metals in alignment with detailed specifications.

• Proficiency in reviewing and understanding drawings prior to welding to ensure correct setup and execution.

• Competent use of metal working machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, saws, brakes, and shears.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise welds.

• Ability to follow safety procedures and operate welding and fabrication equipment safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication for industrial or material handling equipment is beneficial.

• Experience working with conveyor systems or similar mechanical assemblies is an asset.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a production environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and clarify technical information when needed.

Work Environment

You will work in a fabrication and welding facility focused on steel components for conveyor systems. The company recently acquired the building and is actively improving and expanding the site with new equipment and machinery. This is a hands-on, shop-floor environment where you will regularly use welding equipment and metal working machinery such as rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, saws, brakes, and shears. The setting is industrial, with a focus on safety, proper use of tools, and maintaining an organized workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
