Medical Assistant - Wilmington Clinic

The Medical Assistant provides assistance to providers, in both family practice and specialty, with patient related procedures and patient history. Responsible for maintaining a smooth patient flow, and functions as liaison between the physicians, patients, and medical office staff. The Medical Assistant supports primary care, pediatrics, lab and additional specialties to ensure flexibility across the department.

Essential duties and responsibilities include: assisting providers in performing office procedures and duties related to patient care, consistently assessing the patient flow, performing basic Medical Assistant functions, acquiring thorough patient histories, reviewing patient orders, reviewing each referral and laboratory requisition, obtaining waivers and consents, preparing examination rooms, ensuring the patient is checked out, exhibiting tact, courtesy, respect, cooperation and support, performing duties with speed and accuracy, and covering front desk duties as assigned.

Position requirements include: a high school diploma or equivalent, medical assistant diploma or certificate, minimum of one year experience in a medical practice environment, basic life support (BLS) through American Heart Association, and knowledge of medical technology, procedural terminology and diagnostic codes.
