Sales Account Manager

About the Role Smithfield Foods Inc. is seeking a driven Sales Account Manager to introduce and place new products with customers, execute business initiatives, and drive sales for long‑term growth. Responsibilities Accountable for achieving budgeted sales of consumer goods to key customers. Develop and achieve maximum sales volume in line with sales projections for accounts served. Maintain business with existing accounts for continued growth. Maintain current knowledge of product management, marketing, and R&D to increase sales and satisfy customer demands for new items. Cultivate business relations with personnel at various levels to communicate product availability, logistics information, product specifications, and pricing as needed. Ensure prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems; may require communication with corporate headquarters. Collaborate closely with sales leadership (Sales Director, Regional Sales Manager, or National Accounts Manager) for specific accounts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the food business industry dynamics or retail channels. Experience in customer‑focused, fact‑based selling, including IRI, Nielsen, and Perishable Group data. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, and adaptability. Respectful, approachable, and team‑oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment. Ability to work well in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Valid driver’s license. Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time. Physical Demands & Work Environment Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
