Manager, Decision Science

Overview Travelers Insurance, a leading property casualty insurer, seeks a Manager, Decision Science to advance analytic‑driven business decisions and foster cross‑enterprise collaboration. Compensation Overview The annual base salary range for this role is $109,300.00 – $180,200.00. Salary is based on role scope, skills, experience, and location. Employees are eligible for performance‑based cash incentive awards. What Will You Do? Utilize a deep understanding of the business to procure data for analysis or prototypes. Explore internal and external data sources, including unstructured and new data sets, to assess business value. Determine and apply appropriate techniques (diagnostic analysis, active monitoring, multivariate methods, experimental design, hypothesis testing, clustering, time series, etc.) to answer business questions and assess impacts. Explore and recommend new analytic tools and AI‑assisted workflows that improve speed and quality while maintaining rigor. Apply visualization techniques to deliver insights to diverse audiences. Interpret and communicate findings to key stakeholders and recommend optimal business actions. Leverage partnerships across lines and functions to influence analytic outcomes. Mentor less experienced analytical talent, onboard employees and interns, and support recruiting and talent assessment efforts. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Four years of related data and analytics experience. Experience using explanatory, diagnostic, and inferential techniques, including experimental design, hypothesis testing, clustering, time series, and other statistical modeling algorithms. Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or a Business School Master’s degree with a concentration in a technical or analytical field. Experience working on large‑scale multidimensional data using intermediate knowledge of open‑source cloud‑enabled analytic programming languages. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely completion. Proficiency in anticipating challenges and implementing efficient processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain analyses and methodology to business partners. Proactive in building and owning professional relationships across the data and analytics community. Must Have Bachelor’s degree or three years of experience in data, analytics, engineering, science, technical analytical fields or relevant experience.
