MRI Technologist

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for operating MRI machinery to produce diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety. This role involves preparing patients for scans, coordinating with physicians to deliver timely imaging results, and maintaining a clean and safe scanning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with GE MRI scanners, possess strong patient care skills, and hold relevant certifications. Responsibilities:

• Operate MRI equipment efficiently and safely to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Prepare patients for MRI procedures and explain the process to alleviate anxiety.
• Coordinate with physicians to ensure timely receipt and accuracy of imaging results.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the MRI scanning facility.
• Insert IVs when necessary for contrast-enhanced imaging studies.
• Document all procedures accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Perform patient care tasks as needed during imaging procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Associate degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiology.
• Minimum of two years' experience as an MRI Technologist.
• Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or willingness to obtain post-hire.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience with GE MRI scanners is mandatory.
• Valid New York state license.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and familiarity with medical terminology.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• Prior EPIC electronic health record system experience within the last year.

Special Considerations:

• Must be available to work Friday through Sunday, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
• Required to work holidays, be on-call, and respond to callback requests as per unit needs.
• Must be able to comply with hospital policies including TB skin test requirements.

Scheduling:

• Weekend blocked shifts: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
• Holiday shifts and on-call availability required.
