Our programs include individualized music therapy sessions, group programs, community-based services, and Regional Center-funded services.\n\nWe are a mission-driven organization committed to clinical excellence, accountability, compassionate care, professional development, and consistent service delivery. As our clinical department continues to grow, we are seeking a Clinical Supervisor who can provide structure, leadership, accountability, and support to our music therapy team.\n\nPosition Summary\n\nThe Clinical Supervisor is the senior clinical leader of LA Musica Therapy’s music therapy department. This role is responsible for the quality, consistency, accountability, and professional standards of direct service delivery across the clinical team.\n\nThe Clinical Supervisor provides structured supervision to Music Therapists, supports clinical development, reviews documentation quality, reinforces professional standards, manages performance concerns in coordination with leadership, and helps ensure that services are delivered in a manner consistent with LA Musica Therapy’s clinical, ethical, compliance, and organizational expectations.\n\nThis is a leadership role, not solely a senior clinician role. Therapist Professionalism, Attendance, and Punctuality\n\n Monitor therapist punctuality, arrival times, attendance patterns, and schedule adherence across assigned service sites.\n Address patterns of lateness, missed sessions, documentation delays, or unreliability promptly and professionally.\n Provide direct coaching and documented feedback when therapists do not meet expected standards.\n Escalate repeated or serious concerns to the Managing Director/ CEO with supporting documentation.\n Help create a clinical culture where staff feel supported while also being held accountable to professional expectations.\n3. Documentation Quality, Compliance, and Timeliness\n\n Reinforce documentation standards across the clinical team, including session notes, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and related clinical documentation.\n Conduct routine documentation reviews and identify patterns affecting billing accuracy, authorization continuity, Regional Center requirements, or service delivery.\n Ensure documentation is completed within required deadlines and meets LA Musica Therapy’s quality standards.\n Provide corrective feedback and training when documentation is late, incomplete, inaccurate, or clinically insufficient.\n Partner with administrative staff to resolve documentation issues that affect authorizations, POS matters, billing, or client service continuity.\n4. Performance Management and Corrective Action\n\n Address underperformance directly, professionally, and in a timely manner.\n Provide documented coaching and structured feedback when therapists are not meeting expectations.\n Develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans in coordination with the Managing Director when appropriate.\n Participate in progressive discipline processes as needed, including documentation, follow-up, and recommendations to leadership.\n Demonstrate comfort with difficult conversations, including feedback related to punctuality, documentation, conduct, clinical quality, and reliability.\n5. Clinical Workflow and Department Standards\n\n Develop, refine, and maintain clinical templates, documentation tools, supervision forms, and workflow resources.\n Collaborate with leadership on EHR, scheduling, documentation, and clinical workflow improvements.\n Recommend process improvements that increase consistency, efficiency, compliance, and quality without compromising clinical care.\n Help ensure that clinical systems are scalable as the organization grows.\n6. Caseload Oversight and Scheduling Collaboration\n\n Monitor caseload distribution across the team to support clinical appropriateness, therapist sustainability, and organizational capacity.\n Maintain a reduced direct service caseload while modeling the clinical and documentation standard expected of the department.\n Collaborate with administrative staff regarding scheduling coordination, therapist capacity, coverage needs, and operational concerns.\n Provide clinical input on staffing needs, schedule structure, caseload complexity, and therapist readiness.\n7. Leadership Coverage and Incident Support\n\n Provide leadership presence during active clinical hours, including evenings and Saturdays as required by department operations.\n Serve as an onsite or available escalation point when therapists need support with clients, families, caregiver concerns, safety issues, or clinical incidents.\n Support therapists through difficult situations while ensuring appropriate follow-up, documentation, and communication.\n Respond calmly and professionally to urgent or sensitive clinical matters.\n8. Collaboration with Program Development and Leadership\n\n Work closely with leadership and program development staff on new and existing group programs, partner-site services, and clinical program expansion.\n Review proposed programs for clinical feasibility, staffing model, therapeutic structure, and documentation needs.\n Provide clinical readiness input before program launches.\n Participate in program evaluations and recommend clinical adjustments when needed.\n Communicate staffing capacity, clinical constraints, and therapist readiness to leadership proactively.\n9. Training, Onboarding, and Staff Development\n\n Support onboarding of new clinical hires, including orientation to documentation expectations, clinical standards, and LA Musica Therapy procedures.\n Identify training gaps and recommend targeted professional development.\n Lead or support clinical trainings, team meetings, and professional development activities.\n Model strong professional judgment, documentation quality, punctuality, and mission-driven service.\nRequired Qualifications\n\n Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy.\n Active MT-BC certification in good standing.\n Minimum 4 years of clinical music therapy experience.\n Experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, IDD populations, autism, behavioral needs, Regional Center populations, or related clinical populations.\n Demonstrated experience providing supervision, mentoring, structured feedback, clinical training, or comparable clinical leadership.\n Strong documentation skills and ability to review clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.\n Ability to provide direct, professional feedback regarding performance, punctuality, documentation, clinical quality, and professional standards.\n Ability to hold therapists accountable while maintaining a supportive and professional leadership style.\n Strong communication, organization, judgment, and follow-through.\n Ability to work a schedule aligned with clinical operations, including evenings and Saturdays.\n Ability to travel between assigned service locations in the Los Angeles area as needed.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n Master’s degree in Music Therapy.\n Formal clinical supervision training or prior supervisory experience.\n Experience with Regional Center service systems, authorizations, POS issues, and documentation requirements.\n Experience with ClinicSource or similar EHR/scheduling platforms.\n Experience supervising or supporting a team of clinicians across multiple service sites.\n Experience with group program development, community-based services, or partner-site programming.\n Bilingual Spanish or Armenian preferred.\nIdeal Candidate Profile\n\nThe ideal Clinical Supervisor is clinically strong, organized, direct, fair, and comfortable with accountability. This person should be able to support therapists while also upholding organizational standards, documentation requirements, client needs, and Regional Center expectations.\n\nA strong candidate will be able to:\n\n Give clear feedback without avoiding difficult conversations.\n Hold therapists accountable for documentation, punctuality, and professionalism.\n Remain calm during incidents or family/client concerns.\n Balance therapist advocacy with organizational responsibility.\n Understand how scheduling, documentation, authorizations, billing, and clinical quality connect.\n Work collaboratively with executive leadership, administrative staff, and clinical staff.\n Help build structure, consistency, and accountability across a growing clinical department.\nCompensation and Benefits\n\n Hourly compensation range: $42.31–$48.08 per hour.\n Annualized equivalent: approximately $88,000–$100,000 based on a full-time 40-hour workweek.\n This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.\n Final placement within the range will depend on degree level, years of post-degree clinical experience, supervisory experience, documentation strength, leadership readiness, and organizational fit.\n Full-time W-2 employment.\n Health benefit options according to company policy.\n Paid time off and paid holidays according to company policy.\n Professional development and leadership growth opportunities.\n Reduced direct service caseload to support supervisory responsibilities.\nSchedule Requirements\n\nThis position requires a schedule aligned with LA Musica Therapy’s clinical operations. Evening and Saturday availability are essential because therapists provide services during those times and may require clinical leadership support during active service hours.\n\nThe standard schedule will be discussed during the interview process, but candidates must be able to provide leadership coverage during key clinical hours, including evenings and Saturdays.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.\n\n Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout office environments and clinical sites for extended periods.\n Ability to observe and participate in therapy sessions during clinical supervision activities.\n Ability to carry and transport therapy materials or equipment as needed, up to approximately 20 lbs.\n Ability to drive or travel regularly between service locations in the Los Angeles area.\n Ability to use a computer, keyboard, phone, EHR system, and documentation platforms.\n Ability to communicate clearly in individual, group, supervision, and leadership settings.\nWork Environment\n\nThis role may involve work at LA Musica Therapy locations, community or partner sites, and other assigned service settings in the Los Angeles area.
