EET Applied Math Adjunct Part Time Faculty

Overview North Seattle College is seeking a dynamic and student-centered adjunct faculty member to teach EET 109: Mathematical Applications for Circuit Analysis, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. This position supports foundational Electronics Engineering Technology pathways by preparing students with the applied mathematical skills required for success in DC and AC electronics coursework. Instruction emphasizes engineering and scientific notation, algebraic problem solving, trigonometry, vectors, complex numbers, graph interpretation, and quantitative reasoning as applied to electronic circuit analysis, waveform interpretation, and troubleshooting. Department The Electronics Department prepares students for employment in a variety of industries including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare technology management, facilities, logistics, communications, utilities, biomedical equipment technology, and industrial automation. EET 109 serves as a foundational applied mathematics course supporting student success in DC and AC electronics coursework. Compensation This is a part-time adjunct faculty position. Compensation is based on the current Seattle Colleges Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Courses are assigned on a quarterly basis according to program needs, available funding, enrollment, and faculty workload provisions. Position open until filled. The salary range for part-time faculty is generally P1: A1- E7: $7,703 – $11,537.33 per 5‑credit single‑class workload per quarter. Target start rate of pay is $7,703 – $8,912 per 5‑credit single‑class workload per quarter (A1‑C3). Application Procedures Attached resume outlining educational and teaching experience. Responsibilities Prepare and teach assigned EET 109 courses in accordance with approved course outcomes and departmental expectations using instructional strategies that support student learning and engagement. Courses are delivered fully on campus and may be scheduled during daytime or evening hours. Provide instruction in mathematical applications for circuit analysis and electronics technology, including algebraic manipulation, engineering and scientific notation, trigonometry, vectors, complex numbers, graph interpretation, and quantitative problem‑solving methods relevant to DC and AC electronics coursework. Maintain accurate instructional records and fulfill instructional responsibilities associated with assigned courses, including syllabus preparation, timely grading and feedback, student communication, attendance or participation reporting, and submission of required college records. Support student success through regular communication, equitable instructional practices, and appropriate referral to campus academic support resources when needed. Use teaching practices that support equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the classroom and contribute to an inclusive learning environment for students with varied educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds. Participate in department meetings, instructional coordination, assessment activities, and professional responsibilities appropriate to adjunct faculty assignments as outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Maintain current knowledge in electronics‑related mathematics, instructional technology, and teaching practices relevant to assigned coursework. Perform assigned instructional duties and meet professional responsibilities in accordance with Seattle Colleges policies, department expectations, and the faculty collective bargaining agreement. Candidate Qualifications Required Associate degree or higher in Electronics Technology or a related technical field; or four years of experience teaching or training electronics or related technical content. Experience teaching, training, tutoring, or applying mathematics, physics, or other calculation‑based technical concepts. Evidence of collaborative work within an organization or team environment. Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, as outlined in the applicant’s diversity statement. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including use of Microsoft Office or similar software tools. Preferred Two years of work experience in the field of electronics. Experience with avionics, advanced manufacturing, healthcare technology management/biomedical equipment technology, mechatronics, industrial power, or IT‑controlled electronics. Relevant industry‑recognized certifications and credentials. Successful teaching experience in higher education. Experience developing curriculum and program development in a variety of formats, including online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face. Experience assessing coursework or training and student/participant achievement. Experience working in a cooperative environment and collaborating with industry organizations and/or employers.
