Groundskeeper

Overview

Full time, 1st shift.

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining hospital grounds through lawn care, tree and shrub maintenance, and planting bed upkeep, ensuring a professional and safe exterior environment. The role sweeps walkways, clears debris, removes snow, and ensures proper drainage. The role performs equipment maintenance, assists with facility tasks, and supports emergency response, enhancing safety and aesthetics for patients and staff at UPH.

Responsibilities

GROUNDS KEEPING/SMALL ENGINE MECHANIC

·Snow removal and spread of salt during winter weather.

·Maintain mechanical conditions of snow blowers, ATV, Gator, etc.

·Perform small engine repairs such as tuning, oil changes, and carburetor repairs.

·Keeps basic maintenance of machine/equipment parts: blades, belts, grease, etc.

·On a daily basis maintains the main entrances, grounds, parking lots, elevators, stairwells, driveways and sidewalks in good repair and clean of trash and debris to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.

·Operates and repairs irrigation systems and fountains for all the IH-DM properties.

·Perform other tasks, which may be assigned by Lead or Supervisor.

·As well as being able to do the functions of an Equipment Operator.

oTransport furniture off-site to appropriate areas.

oObserve and report the need for repairs to hospital equipment, furniture, building and fixtures.

oUse cardboard bailer as needed.

oMaintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and have repairs made when needed.

oPerform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedule and using prescribed methods.

oExtract carpeted areas and recognize cause and material of soiling to remove with proper chemicals or processes.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Must be at least 18 years old.

High School Diploma or equivalent desirable.

Experience:

One year of maintaining grounds for a facility.

Two - five years’ experience in grounds.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to use tools and equipment related to associated task such as hand tools, Gator, ATV, Snow Blower, Power Washer, etc.

Irrigation knowledge.
