About the Role:

Genesis Industrial Ventures, LLC (GIV) is seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced Electrician Supervisor. The Electrician Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient supervision, coordination, and direction of assigned electrical personnel and work activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Demonstrated marine/shipyard electrical experience with leadership or supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental electrical and electronic principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, work orders, installation instructions, RCC documentation, layouts, and test procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise crews with minimal discrepancies and rework.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Quality Assurance programs and ship repair inspection requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with WAF, Tag-Out, QA, and Test Engineering personnel regarding electrical isolation, power requirements, testing, and system restoration.
  • Basic mathematics and electrical calculation skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to provide required personal hand tools in accordance with company policy.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • U.S. Navy Electrician's Mate (EM) or Electronics Technician (ET) "C" School .
  • Prior AIT, shipyard, or active-duty experience aboard current-class U.S. Navy submarines, particularly for submarine assignments.
  • Current or maintainable NAVSEA cableway certification applicable to assigned work.
  • Current CPR certification as required.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime or other applicable OSHA qualification.
  • Previous experience working with shipboard PMS, MIP/MRC requirements, Tag-Out, TUMS, NAVSEA Standard Items, and ship repair QA processes.
Candidates must be able to:

  • Pass required security and background screening.
  • Obtain and maintain DBIDS and/or CAC access credentials , as required by the assignment.
  • Pass company and customer-required drug screening.
  • Maintain a valid California driver's license when driving is required.
  • Meet physical requirements associated with shipboard work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain any certifications or qualifications required for the assigned project.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise assigned marine electrical personnel on a daily basis.
  • Plan and assign manpower according to production priorities, work fronts, milestones, and required completion dates.
  • Provide hands-on deck-plate supervision and ensure crews understand their work scope before starting.
  • Monitor production progress, labor hours, percent complete, and schedule performance.
  • Review and approve employee timecards and ensure labor is properly charged to the appropriate project and work item.
  • Track personnel, tools, equipment, and company property.
  • Identify schedule risks, material shortages, access issues, technical problems, testing requirements, and other obstacles and communicate them to management promptly.
  • Coordinate activities with structural, pipe, mechanical, insulation, coatings, and other trades to minimize interference and delays.
  • Maintain accurate production updates and assist management with recovery plans when work falls behind schedule.
  • Drive assigned work through completion, inspection, testing, restoration, documentation, and closeout.
The Electrical Supervisor must have strong working knowledge of shipboard electrical systems and be capable of performing or supervising:

  • Electrical installation, repair, maintenance, modification, alteration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Shipboard electrical distribution systems, including 115V and 450V ungrounded systems .
  • Connection and disconnection of electrical equipment such as motors, pumps, controllers, and associated components.
  • Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) work associated with applicable 3000-series MIP/MRC requirements .
  • Electrical equipment inspections and assessments involving damaged, degraded, or deranged systems and components.
  • Verification of cable, circuit, equipment, and component identification and labeling.
  • Troubleshooting of electrical components associated with shipboard HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshooting of electrical components associated with galley and scullery equipment.
  • Installation and repair of conduit, electrical boxes, junction boxes, switches, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, wiring, controllers, and related electrical components.
  • Identification of incorrect wiring, defective components, damaged equipment, and other discrepancies.
  • Determination of appropriate corrective action within the authorized work scope.
  • Material coordination and ordering for electrical repairs, installations, and alterations.
  • Verification of materials against drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and approved material requirements before installation.
Responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Following approved installation instructions and work procedures.
  • Verifying system configuration and material requirements before installation.
  • Coordinating required inspection points and testing.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections, testing, and completed work.
  • Ensuring modified systems are properly restored, tested, labeled, documented, and ready for turnover.
NAVSEA Requirements:

The candidate must be familiar with applicable NAVSEA Standard Items and understand how they apply to assigned work packages.

  • Insulation-resistance testing
  • Electrical system integrity
  • Testing, documentation, and reporting
NAVSEA Standard Item 009-73

  • Electrical power and temporary services
  • Equipment and testing requirements
  • Safety and inspection requirements
  • Documentation and reporting
The Supervisor must review the specific contract/work-item requirements and current revision of applicable NAVSEA Standard Items before beginning work. Contract-specific requirements take precedence over general job-description requirements.

Quality Assurance:

Quality is a critical part of this position. The Electrical Supervisor will:

  • Work within the company's approved Quality Assurance Program.
  • Ensure crews use current drawings, procedures, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Identify required inspection and testing points before work begins.
  • Coordinate inspections with QA personnel and customer representatives.
  • Ensure Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) and other required records are accurate, complete, and traceable.
  • Correct discrepancies before final inspection or system turnover.
  • Maintain high workmanship standards and address deficiencies immediately.
  • Ensure work is not considered complete until workmanship, inspection, testing, documentation, and customer requirements have been satisfied.
Safety Responsibilities:

Safety must remain a priority throughout every phase of the work. Responsibilities include:

  • Enforcing company, OSHA, shipyard, customer, and NAVSEA safety requirements.
  • Participating in pre-job briefs and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Ensuring employees have appropriate PPE, tools, test equipment, and safety equipment.
  • Identifying electrical hazards and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Stopping work when unsafe conditions, unauthorized configurations, or work outside the approved scope are identified.
  • Requesting necessary safety equipment and materials.
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and safe work areas at the end of each shift.
WORK AUTHORIZATION CLEARANCE

For E-verify and contract security purposes (including ship access lists), all employees MUST present a valid export document. Acceptable documents are U.S. Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, Passport, Passport Card and Permanent Resident Card.
