Project Manager / Estimator

Penington Painting Company is a coatings contractor specializing in industrial and commercial coatings. We are responsible for coating preparation and application, such as Chemical Resistant Coatings (CRCs), on any required substrate (floors, walls, ceilings, and more) to meet the desired function of each project. We are a family-owned company that prides itself on hiring and maintaining the highest quality team members. We are currently seeking a Project Manager / Estimator to join our team.

This is one flexible position. We welcome candidates with project management experience, estimating experience, or both. A candidate strong in one area will be supported in developing the other, with the goal of managing work from bid through closeout.

• Salary: $80,000 + depending on experience

Key responsibilities:

Project Management

• Independently manage multiple scopes of work from setup through closeout.
• Coordinate and track the flow of information, files, drawings, materials, and correspondence across your projects.
• Manage submittals, budgets, and the Schedule of Values; verify costs and hours against completed work.
• Review RFIs for cost and schedule impacts and coordinate with the production team.
• Review and prepare Extra Work Orders (EWOs) for customers and support the approval process.
• Track and reconcile Time and Material work, including verifying ticket hours against hours charged to the job.
• Prepare billings and retention, and support project closeout.

Estimating

• Perform takeoffs and estimates for new and additional work.
• Obtain competitive pricing and purchase materials.
• Prepare proposals with clear scope, exclusions, and pricing.

Team, Safety, and Communication

• Participate in jobsite safety, including safety meetings and walks.
• Participate in weekly planning meetings for current and upcoming work.
• Collaborate across the team and build strong client relationships to drive successful outcomes.

The ideal candidate has strong relationship-building skills, excellent organization and communication, and the ability to prioritize and help lead others. This role is an integral part of preparing the data needed to analyze production and efficiency for timeliness, accuracy, and organization. Some travel could be required to support projects outside our local area. OSHA 10 certification is preferred.

Experience:

• Project management and/or estimating: 3+ years (preferred)
• Construction experience: 3+ years (preferred)
