Pay: $18.51 per hour Hours: 7 hours per day, Monday-Friday, 7:15 am-2:45 pm Position Summary Enhancing student achievement by helping maintain a safe environment for students and staff. Essential Functions Maintain a high degree of visibility in assigned areas by: Roaming assigned areas when students occupy them Being in all areas where students pass or congregate Functioning in a way that does not create predictable patterns Demonstrating complete engagement in area activity Escort students and/or visitors, or other staff when assigned by: Transporting students to assigned locations for disciplinary action Transporting students during passing periods when assigned Transporting students to and from administrator offices when requested Escorting visitors within and outside the school building when necessary Escorting parents to and from locations when assigned by administrators Monitor and report any unusual or strange behavior or events to the security team and/or supervisors by: Interviewing students out of classroom or assigned areas Determining reasons for their absence from assigned areas Questioning any strangers on campus Providing timely, accurate information to administration Maintain a high degree of courtesy and respect for students, staff and the public by: Interacting professionally and controlling demeanor at all times Remaining neutral during disputes Reporting all incidents to supervisors promptly Wearing required identification at all times Provide a secure environment for students and staff by: Encouraging order and cooperation at all times Assisting staff during crowd control activities Responding to calls about criminal activities on campus Identifying potential safety impairments on building or campus Enforce and observe all school district policies and state statutes by: Maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations Managing disruptive behavior professionally Reporting incidents promptly and to supervisors for further action Writing required reports and communications Using communication devices professionally and timely Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding school matters Essential Skills and Abilities Walks indoor school property and monitors movement of students, staff and visitors Uses conversation and observation to determine visitor suitability Conducts walk‑thru checks and inspections for safety Evaluates information collected and reports to proper authorities Communicates effectively with the public, students and staff Uses persuasion rather than confrontation to resolve problems Basic Requirements Teaching certificate preferred; substitute certification required Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions Positive, caring manner with students Friendly, helpful attitude working with students and staff Equipment Used Standard office equipment Work Environment Employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach Position Type: Full-Time Job Requirements Citizenship, residency or work visa required #J-18808-Ljbffr
