Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC and Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality precision components. The ideal candidate has extensive machining experience, strong programming skills, and a commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This role also provides technical support to Machine Operators by developing efficient machining processes, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring products consistently meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings and specifications to determine machining requirements for custom and production jobs.
• Program and set up CNC machining equipment for new and existing parts.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining methods for each job.
• Develop efficient machining programs that minimize cycle time, material waste, and tooling costs.
• Produce first-piece parts and perform initial inspections prior to Quality Control approval.
• Monitor machining operations to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Support and assist Machine Operators with setups, production issues, and process improvements.
• Recommend process improvements that increase productivity, reduce scrap, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Train and mentor new employees and Machine Operators as needed.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 10 years of CNC machining, programming, and setup experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining practices, tooling, workholding, and setup techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
• Strong understanding of machining mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Experience selecting cutting tools and optimizing machining processes.
• Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment and quality inspection techniques.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred

• Experience machining a variety of metals and engineered materials.
• Experience mentoring or training machine operators.
• Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM software is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
• Regular lifting of materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
