Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Competent in all aspects of CT, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection.


Description:
Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.
Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative.
Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams according to department procedures.
Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
Able to independently perform job functions.
Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions the patient for the procedure.


Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique so that the patient receives the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality.
Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to a supervisor or service provider.
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department cleaning schedule.


Verifies proper clinician order for a procedure.
Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media to prevent patient condition deterioration or undue pain.
Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification, and right and left markers are utilized appropriately.
Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
Responds to emergency situations and assists with the restocking of crash carts and maintenance of life support equipment.
Observes patient condition and evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary.
Verifies correct identity of the patient using two unique identifiers prior to performing a procedure.
Ensures patient privacy and comfort are accommodated and maintains patient dignity throughout the exam.
Demonstrates competence in appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age.
Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection.
Engages with patients and families, asking clarifying questions and seeking clarification on ambiguous orders.
Understands pre-procedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate.
Preps the patient for the procedure and demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique.
Maintains competency with venipuncture.


Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients clearly before starting procedures.
Addresses patient's questions, concerns, or contraindications satisfactorily.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures.
Ensures required documentation is concise and legible.
Reads email daily and follows through with assignments.
Completes mandatory departmental and hospital-wide education without prompting.


Produces acceptable images consistently.
Ensures equipment is fully operational prior to use.
Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion.
Completes all studies in the RIS before finalization in PACS.


Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean and orderly department.
Transports and positions patients appropriately.
Performs patient charge activities on the day services are rendered.
Applies shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices and equipment.
Lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request.
Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel as necessary.
Keeps supervisor informed on all responsibilities and promptly notifies of any issues.
Maintains individual productivity rate equal to colleagues.
Ability to operate all workstations associated with the CT department.
Maintains Joint Commission standards and any other regulatory agency standards.
Takes call when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
